ICE-O 2015 will be held in Reykjavík 26th-28 June 2015.

ICE-O is the biggest orienteering event annually organized by the local club Rathlaupafélagið Hekla since 2010.

Friday, 26th June – sprint in Hafnafjörður, first start at 6 p.m.

Saturday, 27th June – classic in Heiðmörk, first start at 11 a.m.

Sunday, 28th June – middle distance in Elliðaárdalur, Reykjavík, first start at 11 a.m.

Registration will be open at the event’s webpage from 1st November 2014. Online payment at the  registraion is prefered.

Terrain

Friday sprint race will be held in the town of Hafnafjörður, which is one of the oldest Icelandic towns. Built in a lava field, its numerous parks will surprise you with a complex terrain full of rocks, re-entrants and knolls.

On Saturday, the long distance event will take place in Heiðmörk forrest on the Capital’s suburb. Thick forests, small marshes, vast open areas and bare rocks as well as lava fiels on the map margins make this area exciting for runners as well as tricky to navigate.

Sunday middle distance courses will be set in Elliðaárdalur valley. Located right in the City of Reykjavík, this area will surprised you by the orienteering possibilities. Two streams, plentiful marshes, beautiful waterfall make the courses especially entertaining.

SPORTident equipment. Renting possible (€6 for the whole event).

Volunteers

We are looking for volunteers to help us with the event organization – e.g. to set up the event center, assistance at the start or finish, and after each race.

For your work we offer free participation in ICE-O 2015, sleeping bag accommodation (see below) and transport to and from the event.

Accommodation

Basic accommodation will be available at a local scout club house named Jötunheimar. There is room for 25-35 people in five different rooms (5-7 in each room), thus early registration is recommended. There are mattresses in the rooms but no linen. A kitchen,toilets and free internet is available. Shower facilities are limited to one shower, but there is a swimming pool with hot tubs in walking distance.
Price per night is €12 per person.

Transportation

Transportation will be arranged for a fee of €20 to and from the event on Saturday and to the event center on Sunday.
